Happy Friday my little tarts!  Yesterday, I had an amazing photoshoot with some of the best people I know and love to work with.  All of the elements of hair, makeup, photography, and wardrobe came together to create this moment of pure epicness.

I made this dress out of 250+ recycled toilet paper tubes and paper towel tubes.  I got donations from friends and family all across the country to help bring my vision to life.  I made this dress in 2009 for St. Louis Science Center’s eco-friendly fashion show competition.  I won 1st place with this dress.  For me, this dress was one of the first pieces that I completely envisioned in my head that came to life exactly as I imagined it would…but so much more!  

I’ve waited quite a long time to have this piece professionally photographed because the setting had to be right, it all had to come together.  This concept of using the toilet paper in the background was just perfect.  It’s not forcing the idea on you, but guides the viewer.  It’s raw and edgy, exactly what Rebel Tart strives to be!

Happy 2012 and welcome to the official blog for Rebel Tart, my print-a-palooza of a clothing line!  Rebel Tart has often been described as loud, daring, edgy, quirky, serendipitous, and has even had words made up to describe it!  For me, Rebel Tart is a complete extension of myself; the creator, seamstress, and one woman machine behind its production, Cindy Henry.  I put my heart and tears into every piece I make and would wear every piece I produce.  

I often describe Rebel Tart as follows:

Rebel Tart mixes sexy, saucy and fun, with just the right amount of sass.  Rebel Tart uses both new and recycled fabrics to create a collection that features limited edition and one-of-a-kind items.  Rebel Tart’s mission is to bring out the inner rebel in everyone!  To empower you to take risks, embrace your wild side and rock some insanely fabulous fashion!

Basically, I make whatever quirky designs pop into my head and hope that you love them as much as I do.  I strongly believe in retaining ones individuality and I reinforce that by limiting the amount of times I can reproduce a garment.  In most cases, I do one-of-a-kind garments for this reason.  However, I am always willing to attempt to recreate something I’ve designed in similar fabrics and am absolutely thrilled to do total customizations to fit your taste!
